Not only are reclaimed building materials cost efficient, they’re environmentally friendly, too. Today, reclaimed materials are more popular than ever because “green” design trends are gaining considerable traction. Subsequently, LEED certification is becoming commonplace for new projects across the country. LEED (which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a designation given to buildings designed to the positively effect the surrounding environment. Though using reclaimed material is just part of LEED certification, it’s considered a cornerstone for any sustainably built structure.
